A day’s drive from Brisbane lies the majestic, iconic Carnarvon Gorge stretching out over 330,000 hectares of rugged high mountain ranges descending down into lush serene rainforests and pristine meandering river systems carved out by massive glacial flows a very, very long time ago.
The Gorge is steeped in geological history and from the early indigenous peoples to the early European explorers in 1850’s and the settlers that came after to establish the farming and cattle stations in the area. A truly majestic experience.
The Wilderness Lodge
At the front gate of the Carnarvon Gorge National Park is our beautiful Wilderness Lodge set on approximately 100 ha looped by the Carnarvon Creek, that provides a fantastic base to explore the Gorge, walks and enjoy the serenity and the warm country hospitality of this unique destination.
The Lodge has 28 luxury safari style large cabins, each with ensuite, tea preparation, fridge, balconies, air conditioned and heating. The Lodge offers a fully licenced Restaurant with a variety of breakfast and lunch options and our stunning A la Carte evening dining (to suit all budgets and tastes).
Guided bush walking tours and helicopter scenic flights are available in the main season and can be booked through our reception.
Australian born Daniel Hill is the Chef at The Wilderness Restaurant. Daniel is highly experienced and a passionate chef that has established an award-winning career in New Zealand and an industry brand ambassador, and now back in Australia. He has the prestigious honour of being the private chef to celebrities including Elton John and ZZ Top that exemplifies his professional knowledge and range of varying cuisines, food technology and innovative menus.
