Experience the Life of The Gorge

A day’s drive from Brisbane lies the majestic, iconic Carnarvon Gorge stretching out over 330,000 hectares of rugged high mountain ranges descending down into lush serene rainforests and pristine meandering river systems carved out by massive glacial flows a very, very long time ago. The Gorge is steeped in geological history and from the early indigenous peoples to the early European explorers in 1850’s and the settlers that came after to establish the farming and cattle stations in the area. A truly majestic experience.

Booking prior to their reopening we did not know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise. The accommodation was great. The walks were amazing and the countryside beautiful. The big surprise was the amazing meals that Daniel Hill and his staff presented in a remote environment. Ian who has been instrumental in the reopening was hands on at all times. A great 3 nights

We’ve just returned from a 3-night family stay here and we were well impressed with the accommodation and location of Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge. The cabins were super comfortable and suitable for a family of four. We loved the luxury camping feel and being able to immerse in the surrounding nature, watching the kangaroos and echidna’s and birdlife from our lovely deck (P.S - pack lots of mozzie repellant for sitting outdoors!) The staff were lovely too.

The host were fantastic and we were made to feel very much at home. Great rooms and the best food especially the deserts. The tours up the gorge were very informative and relaxing. Will be back for sure for our next Group Flying Holiday next May. See you then.
